If an end does come December 21st, what will begin? We know that the world doesn't disappear simply because human civilization disappears, even if all life were erased, it would still be here. So given nothing that destructive will occur, what might?
Some people like to think that the next big thing is the awakening of human potential in a mental and psychological sense. This 'Awakening' has been theorized for a long time, though no one can say exactly how it comes about, or what it means for the species. Generally we think of it being a good thing, where humanity casts off the chains of self-imposed weakness in order to gain strength. Certainly trimming something as simple as religion can mean a huge change, as the direction is something that is rationalized and not just believed in.
My personal hope is that the mental ability increases to include understandings that were formerly limiting. Much like the Atlanteans and their culture brought many things to this world, the rest of society achieving a similar state could as well, provided they don't initiate their own destruction. Too much of that has been done already.

The End?
Or is it a new beginning?
The Mayan calendar ends in 11 days, and the hype of the past several years will finally break up when the 22nd comes and people are unfazed by what happens. But what if the changes happen that the calendar aligns with and no one is the wiser? Perhaps the great change isn't apparent because it has been happening slowly, but perhaps it has happened all along. Maybe the 22nd will be a completely different world than the one it was.
Perhaps the great war that ripped the world's history apart in the ages part may resume in given time. Possibly not, maybe a great shadow war will erupt that leaves most completely untouched. It's interesting to think about, but nothing to lose sleep over. I think it will flow easily without most giving another thought, but in my soul I hope for something more than just another day, though I doubt it would be on par with my imagination.

Sandy's Aftermath
Sandy came in lower than expected with high winds, but little rain compared to Irene last year. It proceeded to strip the flashing off the edge of the roof, knock pine trees over, and steal power for three and a half days. Unlike Irene, Sandy was a much colder event and it was difficult to stay in the apartment without heat. On the day I left to go elsewhere it was the middle of the afternoon and 45 degrees in the warmest part of the room. At least I wasn't worried about the food in the frig going bad.
Upon my return power was back, but the heating system was impaired due to a furnace malfunction, so I was able to only use my electric space heater for warmth. The next day it was fixed though, and heat has been restored here. Currently there is another storm dropping snow outside, but it seems to be a small system in comparison, even though it is a burden for people farther to the east.
Today and the remainder of this week I was/will be helping to clean up after the minor damages in the area. A lot of branches and trees were knocked around, and it will be necessary to clean them up before the heavy snows fall. Minor damages to structures and yards will have to be addressed as well, but nothing like that of the east coast that took the brunt of the force. There were many that lost their homes and livelihoods, and this may just be a taste of things to come.
The world will continue to change, and events like these may become more frequent, despite the existence of ways to minimize the damage. Perhaps the future will be kind to open the door we need to get there, but I think we'll have to start by coaxing it open. It will be interesting to see how events unfold from here on.

Hurricane Sandy
Sandy is on its way and seems like this area will get within the path just like with Hurricane Irene. Everyone is getting excited about it, but it's just another storm here. It may knock out power and disrupt things, but that's how this system is built, to rely on an inefficient layout.
Power delivery systems relying on a network of wires and poles is the main reason for the power outages that follow. Even if the winds didn't down trees and branches, taking out portions of a grid, then there are any number of possibilities that lead to the same conclusion. Why is this so? Why not just start integrating communities with underground systems?
New living developments use buried cables all the time. It makes digging in certain parts of the yard complicated, but it's a good way to avoid weather related outages. As for high power delivery systems, there's no reason not to keep them above ground if need be, but all smaller towns and cities should work on switching over. Just think if during a storm like this one could simply focus on the major channels and not worry about their grid failing from a local mishap? It would change everything.
As for the worries over the storm damage itself, there would be plenty of ways to fortify through the ages. The time for inefficient building structures is over, it's already the future, and steps need to be taken so new construction sites prepare for emergencies like this. Although it's not like the storm will be that much of an emergency, it's just at a time of year that the cold is starting to become an issue. It's not like people can just go outside and enjoy the warm weather after the hurricane takes their power... people like the warmth to be there, and now it won't.
At any rate, it will be interesting to see what this storm does, and if it lives up to the hype the media is giving it. Perhaps they are as bored with the politics as most everyone else is, and trying to get ratings where they can. Maybe one day they'll learn how to bring back real reporting and then they won't have to try so hard.
Two days before the Hurricane's arrival. It should be interesting.

The Basic Particle
Breaking all known walls and forging a new path, the previous elementary particles are broken down even farther, despite the fact that science can't see the smaller pieces yet. Just like how the molecule was once the elementary particle, and the atom after, it continues to get smaller with the more that is known. This is the theory that it all starts with one thing, and everything is realized from that starting point.
The Basic particle is the substance that starts everything in existence. It might not even be what can be called a particle, but something so infinitesimally small it doesn't even possess a shape. Going by theories, it might be smaller than a quark is to the largest star we know, if the star represents an atom. There's no use in guessing sizes really, since it may be impossible to see with current technologies at this time.
The point of the particle is that everything is shaped from it, and it is neither matter nor energy. However, as a foundation it is the zero point, or what I refer to as 'null'. Depending on the fit and shaping of null, something forms a pseudo matter and a pseudo energy starting point. If we think of things in terms of clusters, then the basic particle/null forms clusters that interlock with each other. Some clusters are small, some are large, and the shape varies. Among the 'building block' shapes, they range from large to small sizes, but are always larger than the 'connector' shapes.
If the connectors of the smallest pseudo mass clusters are Popsicle sticks, and the largest of the pseudo energy connectors are toothpicks, then it's easy to see how the pseudo energy will always flow in and around the pseudo matter. This means that building blocks of the mass clusters will continue to interact with the matter, and energy will interact with energy. This also shows how energy doesn't have mass, since it is a loose connection that simply by passes the matter component.
Note that in physics "Matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed." While this is true, unraveling both gets the basic particles, which in turn can make more of the other. It should also be noted that everything begins and ends with energy. This is seen at the early levels of combining, when there are millions of toothpick connections, and they smash together to form higher orders of pseudo matter, while lacing together yields different orders of energy. But most importantly is that the energy and matter are separated by space, which is why the laced energy components eventually form something that is spherical in nature and large, while the matter components mash together to form something spherical and small.
In other terms of lacing versus smashing. Think in terms of ice crystals. If the ice crystals lace together, then they form a snow flake, that reflects light and basically is light and fluffy and dances around objects in flow. Now think for smashing as the snow compacting on the ground or the ice particles colliding against each other and making something solid and dense, that can't be seen through easily, and impacts against things. Ice particles make up both types of snow or ice, but they have very different roles. The same can be said for the basic particles and their interaction together. And just like shaving ice produces snow, matter can be pulled apart back into the pseudo energy components.
The only thing powerful to do all this is the center of a super massive black hole, and squeezing the pseudo energies together but separating them, produces a time/space violation, or the birth of a new universe through a big bang phenomenon. In that rushing escape and velocity into an empty plane, the pseudo energies start forming completely new, but expected combinations.
And once again things are back at a new beginning.

The Great Thaw
In the present the world is undergoing a period of great thaw, where the ice caps are melting and the permafrost is disappearing. As that ice disappears, new challenges approach the world and the organisms that live here. Ecosystems change, species thrive in places they didn't before while others are pushed to extinction, and the planet itself changes as the oceans get heavier and the land lighter. More than anything, the human race has to figure out where it stands.
The last time the planet experienced a shift of temperatures at the end of the last ice age, human coastal populations were wiped out as there homes were swallowed by the oceans. Many low lying lands in the Pacific are in danger of this happening, as they are only a few feet above sea level already. Coastal cities now are threatened by rising waters and yet there's more to come.
Isn't it enough to expect humanity to counter this shift in nature by using nature? The Water Plan, mentioned in a previous post, would be enough to prevent this, but people have to realize its benefits. No one improves by just wishing for change, they have to embrace it and make it happen.
When the water rises and swallows lands and displaces earth's population, I don't want to regret not having acted when we had the chance to change things. The world could be a better place if we just worked together to make it happen, but only the profitable ideas win the day. I hope the consequences are worth the ignorance.

Chaotic Thoughts
After studying the workings of chaos for a long time, it's been discovered that 'order' is a part of chaos. Order is essentially a repeating form of chaotic events over a time period. Because the events are similar in nature, they are perceived as a structured event, with is considered 'order'. There is no limit in time duration that perceived order can attain, since a minute change exists on some level within that system that preserves chaos in the system.
This is why any systems will succumb to chaos eventually, because it is merely following a larger string of diverse events at that time. Chaos is an element of the universe, and is completely natural, so if anything order is the unnatural attribute, but is necessary for certain species to survive in and operate. Elementals, demons, and gods that are immersed in this natural energy are able to manipulate it in a way that creates a type of order, but that's not eternal, or is a very small fragment of the larger picture.
For a natural example, we perceive the universe as a system as order, where stars are born, die, seeds debris to make planets and new stars (and eventually life), while the 'dead' stars become massive centers for the new star formations. That 'order of events' is a very beautiful representation of chaotic repetition. Though the system is somewhat similar, it's very much different in each series of events, and constantly changing into something new. Chaos is a dynamic, order is static, that's why the only means to evolve and change lies in the dynamic system.
The only reason people are taught the other way around is to impress upon them the fact that Gods are absolute, as order is their creation. If everyone knew that order didn't really exist in the way they thought, then it would undermine the authority of the gods.

Atlantis, Gone Again
I saw a news post after a random web search that Google maps had traced the ocean bottoms and someone saw a grid-like pattern on the ocean floor around where Atlantis was supposed to be. Google actually officially announced that they updated the maps and that the grids were from overlapping data sets. Interestingly they had to make it news to say this.
I guess the only way to find out is if people see if there are really grids there or not. It's interesting to think about.

The Water Plan
If anyone wants to know the easiest way to ensure the success of a country, it is important to remember to things. 1. Control the water. 2. Be energy independent.
Since energy isn't a topic at the moment, water is the main concern. All places have at least a little water, or they need to get it from somewhere. Areas of huge land expanses like the United States have rain, drought, glaciers, and coastline. There are places that have lots of water, and some with almost none at all. Still, it is the 21st century, so why are there still people that 'hope' and 'pray' for rain or the lack of it, when they have the ability to control what's already there on the ground?
In the Water Plan, three things are needed for efficient water handling.
1. Aquifer recharge stations. These are points along a stream or river in the higher elevations that use simple mechanics to control the height of water to prevent flooding downstream. Water flows along its course and hits a control segment, which is essentially a concrete section with a built in sliding door at the high water mark. As the water reaches a level above normal high level, it pushes a sliding door/valve/covering open, and water enters a channel and flows into a covered cistern that will hold the water and let it settle into the aquifer later on. If the cistern fills completely, then an exit channel takes the water to either a secondary cistern or a holding tank, pipe, or some other means of holding water until it is needed.
2. Pipe Systems and Pump Stations. We pump oil and natural gas thousands of miles, but think the idea of transporting water is ludicrous. If cisterns fill and the water flows, then pumping stations send excess water to other areas, possibly dry areas or farms that need the water for irrigation. In this way, water stays in the river systems longer and benefits those that are not set up with the water plan. Pump stations can be replaced with gravity feed systems as well, limiting the need for energy usage. Areas that are wet pump to dry areas, and the need to rely on rainfall lessens, as long as the aquifers are charged and places that are supposed to house water are holding it.
3. Water Plants or Desalination Plants. The coast is a place rich in wind, solar, and tidal energy. If these three power systems are used to operate coastal desalination plants, then the reclaimed water from them can supply areas inland and in cities that lack the supply from a natural source. A self-sufficient plant that is off the grid becomes something that only helps, and supplies a constant amount of water when the exchange between areas isn't working, or too costly to be beneficial.
Benefits of this plan are not sole profit of the one who put this system in place, but all the business owners, the farmers, and the residents that can go about life without worrying about too much water or the lack of it impacting their lives. Governments would have less disaster relief funds because many of the smaller events would disappear. Assistance for living in areas that are typically drought stricken would be unneeded. The cost of food and energy would go down, and bio-diversity would be easier to maintain when livestock sales aren't forced due to the inability to feed or water them. Floods and destructive river events would be self-controlling unless the control system was overwhelmed as well, but at least the effects would be lessened along the way.
A healthy country is one that is not worrying over the weather and controlling the resources it has at hand. An active control of water would be the next great move in history, and an inspiration for many societies to copy. Once the water is no longer an issue, power is next. But energy is for another time.

Combating Climate Change in Atlantis
Having a long standing empire means facing more than just the enemies that challenge you. Ageless forces of nature were always an issue in the development of the land that would fall into forgotten legend, and building something that took advantages of those changes was what helped the civilization be remembered as so advance. Beyond the raging volcanic fires, the ocean winds, the violent earth, and the chaotic energies of the atmosphere, were the life giving waters that surrounded their home. It was adapting to the ocean that was what made life easier.
The true continent of Atlantis did not start as such a lofty place. The inhabitants settled within the caldera of an ancient volcano that was long dormant, but were surrounded with other active mountains. Much like the Yellowstone caldera, the Atlantean caldera hosted a wide variety of hydrothermal wonders, including hot springs, geysers, and other geological wonders. Coming off the serious Ice Age that gripped the planet, it was a good place to be.
Game was not abundant on the islands that formed the Atlantean Cradle, and farming plots were restricted to a few of the more fertile islands in the chain. While a few of the inland swamps were home to some reptiles, including snakes, turtles, and crocodilian species, as well as small rodents, most of the food came from the sea. This meant that to be close to the food source, was to build on the coast in port villages. It was not an easy task.
Of the fertile islands, with their gentle slopes to the sea, the first of the sea side villages were constructed. On the outside ring of the caldera, building was less successful on the steeper slopes, and ships had to frequently sail around half the island to reach the other docks. Wood and the resources needed to fasten it did not come from the islands so much as from the main continents, which made it difficult to maintain the villages should they fall into disrepair. But they managed accordingly, up until the first ocean surge.
At a period of time the first ocean rise occurred from the warming climate and the melting ice, it caused a surge that swamped many of the villages within a few years time. Resources were secured and relocated, but this meant pushing back into farmlands or up steeper grades, it was not something that was the easiest to do. The loss of living areas was a critical blow, and the people knew that they had to plan ahead of the tides. Without the supply of a steady source of wood with which to build, the people turned to the stone around them.
As a volcanic chain the Atlantean cradle was composed of mainly igneous rock. Limestone, a sedimentary rock, was not available to the islands and thus not used in the construction of the buildings to come. Unlike most of the island chain's rocks, granite cliffs were found on the interior of the caldera's western edge. Although typically formed deep underground through the slow cooling of magma, it is likely that it was once a part of the crust, before the old volcano pierced it and forced it upwards. However it was formed, it provided the building material for many projects to come.
Honing their skills of rock shaping, the Atlanteans used large slabs of granite to buffer their shores and create a series of steps that moved inland. Similar steps were carved into the steep sides of the caldera and used as a foundation. Port villages were then constructed further back from the steps, and docks and immediate activity areas for ships were constructed on large buoyant platforms that were set with an edge on the lowest step. Ropes and pulleys with weights were constructed to tether the platforms to the mainland.
In time, as the ocean levels rose, the platform would rise as the water level surpassed certain thresholds and would lift off its foundation on the first step. Due to the force of the tethers and weights, the platform would be pulled back towards the main land and slide into place on the next step, effectively raising the ports to accommodate the height of the ocean. Periodically, platforms and docks were modified or rebuilt, but the step work of the sea edge allowed them to adjust to the changes. The concept of the moving port cities of Atlantis contributed to their reputation as the incredibly advanced civilization they are remember as.

Climate Change
The large topic in the world is the threat of climate change. How real is it, is it the warming of the planet, is it going to cool down, are humans the problem, or is everything out of our ability of control? Any way it is approached, no one is sure of the right answer.
In Atlantis, thousands of years ago, climate was on a great changing pattern. At the rise of the empire the north was still covered in ice and snow, and modern humans were still clustered in Africa and parts of the Middle East where it was much warmer. As the continent of Atlantis was in the ocean, they observed milder temperatures, and were heated by the warm currents of the Gulf Stream. However, over time, they saw the ice wane, and the ocean water rise higher. In essence, it was a form of climate change unknown to us today.
Although the course was slow, over the next gap of time that for over reasons is absent from our history, the ice melted, the oceans destroyed many coastal civilizations, and Atlantis itself ceased to exist. The reasons for the disappearances and the shift in climate are tied together, but in a way that remains a mystery. The fact is that climate change has occurred during human history already, so why is it a question that it isn't happening today?
Just like the ocean's rise in the past, melting today are a lesser scale is threatening to cover islands that harbor life. A few South Pacific Islands may not exist in 50 years, if the water level rises more than just a meter. Evidence of this process in the past can be seen in the pyramid off Okinawa, the road in the Bahamas, and the various underwater villages lining the Mediterranean. These are all considered to have "sunk" into the sea, but the truth is that the land remained in the same place, while the water raised in level.
Climate change today is considered to be a slow process, and uncertain by different theories and political interference. It may not be directly human related, but the temperature in certain aspects is going up, even if the change fluctuates over a number of years. Like all systems that are dynamic, a steady change in one direction and only that direction is impossible. Change occurs, and the system shifts because of the change.
The causes of such a change are natural to start, but can be augmented by certain activities. The planet has been warming up, but it is possible to accelerate that just by living only, much like microscopic organisms constructed the atmosphere over time. Humans are much larger, and capable of altering our environment. When the system changes in any variable in this dynamic world, something has to change to counter that action. This is true in all things immersed in physics, it is certainly true of the planet and us.
As for the opposition, people like to believe that high levels of carbon dioxide are harmless because they have been on the planet before. This is true, but the climate was much warmer, there wasn't ice at the poles, and had much more water covering the surface. It may have existed before, but the conditions were different as well.
Regarding the uncertainties of the change, natural events can shift the warming trend the other way by simply happening on their own. Super volcano eruptions, asteroid strikes, and solar spots or diminished activities are all ways to induce a cooling effect that could reset the climate. Once again, it is the dynamic system at work.
So when thinking about the confusion of climate change and the conflicting opinions, remember that change happens, and we live in a system that adjusts for each of those changes. Don't let the opinions of those working for an agenda sway you if you believe differently, and know that your contributions can also help out. It is our home and it may change, but we can too, because the world will change regardless of what we wish it to do.

Life Blood Neglected
The blood of the living societies is water, while the blood of technology and the modern way of business is energy. Both are vitally important for running a country efficiently, and both are largely neglected. The life blood of the country of the US has long been ignored, and it will lead to its downfall if the neglect continues on.
If the country is to get back on its feet, it needs to control its water. Too much, too little, not enough, all we hear are complaints based on what nature supplies. There is never incentive to seek a solution to the problem. If it were to exist, then business could operate normally and without dispute over who uses what. There would also be extensions of growing areas across the country, and wildlife would benefit as well.
With energy, after water has been settled, it would be much easier to approach energy issues. By restructuring the pathways around the country, and by encouraging new sources that are based on the elements, and not on life that used to exist, then the country will make a positive step forward. If there is nothing done, then the problem will only get worse.
Nothing changes for the better if the blood is left alone to dry and/or stop flowing.

Roots in Atlantis
This subject was avoided for a while, but it seems appropriate to bring it forth due to this year's prophecy of end times. However, the end of one thing is the beginning of something new, just as the downfall of Atlantis ages ago was the beginning of new paths towards science and discovery outside of the natural forces, this end may be something that brings the importance of those elements back. This is especially important when considering the possibilities surrounding this coming end, and that it will probably be rooted in the same elements, just as was true for Atlantis.
So then, let's look at Atlantis from a new perspective. We are re-creating it by twisting the perspective of what people think they know and making it something that wasn't (at least in this time line). This step would make it an era when it wasn't the technology that made it so advanced, but the people that lived there.
As mentioned before, the 5 elements is what makes the people of Atlantis shine. The mastery over each of the elements was augmented by hundreds of years of study and dedicated focus into the understanding of these components of nature. Moreover, people of Atlantis were a different species of human, just as the Neanderthal and other varieties have been discovered. The mental capacity was greater than our own, and an aspect of their brain allowed them to be in tune with the elements in ways the current species just cannot be. But just like the current species, the Atlanteans were people that grew prideful and their power corrupted enabled the worst of their kind to dominate others.
At the height of the empire, roughly 15,000 years ago, the world was very different from how it is known today. The ice that covered the poles was still very thick, and human culture much further along than noted by science. Civilization touched all parts of the planet as it does today, but in a more primitive manner. The great cities were in India, Africa, Eastern Asia, and in the Mediterranean low lands and the surrounding territory. A nomadic behavior was being observed in the Americas, but that was the most effective for the hunting patterns of the continent. Parts of the civilization of Atlantis was in encampments around the world. It was very unlike what is thought to be known, though the remnants of that time still exist today.
With the master of the 5 elements, there came a discovery of a way to harness the power of the earth in a way unthought of in the age. Crystals of Atlantis are known to us through the prophets over the ages, but it was always unknown what these crystals were, but this was when they were forged by the elementals. The crystals themselves were not the source of the energy, but the container around the energy of a nuclear reaction. Intense heat and light were produced within these containers, and was used in many applications to move machines and structures of the time without the presence of electricity.
The creation of these crystals led to many advancements, but their existence caused fear and awe in men. It wasn't long before war over them began, and upset the balance of the world. Eventually this led to many conflicts, and much devastation of civilization when the crystals were 'activated' and the nuclear fire destroyed many. Eventually, it was the same power that erased Atlantis in nuclear annihilation. It didn't sink, it was vaporized from the thousands of energized crystals.
The trade routes and people with the more advanced knowledge were mostly killed off. Survivors of the wars were unable to reproduce the same level of society that had been, and the children were never able to learn. These factors together prolonged the time of simple living until people developed the skills anew, many generations later.
As a result of the destruction on the land, all carbon clocks that hold radiation for measuring time were reset. The intense heat stored in the land, the water, and the air caused the planet to warm up rapidly, and the coastal cities were consumed by the rising waters. This is observed by cities such as the one found underwater near Okinawa Japan. Archeological sites in India have found bodies and cities with nuclear damage and radiation, while parts of recorded stories tell tales of a great weapon of mass destruction, describing the effects of the blasts.
Now, many years later, we were told that the power of the Atlanteans would return. Is this year the time for the return of the ancients? Will the elementals that destroyed their home return again? Will other truths come to light? We don't know. But this year should prove interesting enough.
Hopefully what does happen, will be something we learn and live from.
