New Beginnings

If an end does come December 21st, what will begin?  We know that the world doesn't disappear simply because human civilization disappears, even if all life were erased, it would still be here.  So given nothing that destructive will occur, what might?

Some people like to think that the next big thing is the awakening of human potential in a mental and psychological sense.  This 'Awakening' has been theorized for a long time, though no one can say exactly how it comes about, or what it means for the species.  Generally we think of it being a good thing, where humanity casts off the chains of self-imposed weakness in order to gain strength.  Certainly trimming something as simple as religion can mean a huge change, as the direction is something that is rationalized and not just believed in.

My personal hope is that the mental ability increases to include understandings that were formerly limiting.  Much like the Atlanteans and their culture brought many things to this world, the rest of society achieving a similar state could as well, provided they don't initiate their own destruction.  Too much of that has been done already.

The End?

Or is it a new beginning?

The Mayan calendar ends in 11 days, and the hype of the past several years will finally break up when the 22nd comes and people are unfazed by what happens.  But what if the changes happen that the calendar aligns with and no one is the wiser?  Perhaps the great change isn't apparent because it has been happening slowly, but perhaps it has happened all along.  Maybe the 22nd will be a completely different world than the one it was.

Perhaps the great war that ripped the world's history apart in the ages part may resume in given time.  Possibly not, maybe a great shadow war will erupt that leaves most completely untouched.  It's interesting to think about, but nothing to lose sleep over.  I think it will flow easily without most giving another thought, but in my soul I hope for something more than just another day, though I doubt it would be on par with my imagination.
